High-efficient energy utilization and environmental protection are the two key issues for the human beings in the 21 st century. China as a fast-growing developing country, and one of the largest energy consuming counties, will face these great challenges in the coming decades. As one of the oldest and strongest institutes in China in the field of energy and power engineering, the School Energy and Power Engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University will take on the responsibility in training of both high professional experts and academic talents, and do its contributions to social development, economic growing, and promotion of science and technology.

Over the past 100 years development, the school has developed into a multi-discipline high reputation institute in China, and sent out over ten thousand graduates to China and the rest of world, becoming one of the important human resources for Chinese society in field of energy and power engineering. Many of them have become backbones and leaders the society of energy and power engineering, making great contributions to the nation. Meanwhile, the school is playing important role in academic community of energy and power engineering.

The school has its high standards in research and education, and over 200 teachers and staffs are working in education and research, providing excellent teaching and research resources and facilities for students and teachers, enabling the students to learn the up-to-date knowledge and the teachers to conduct the advanced research.

Through an increasingly support from the government, the school has laid the solid foundation for its sustainable and fast development. The school aims at constructing the high-level academic platform in energy science and technology in China and making even greater contributions to the nation.

We are well aware of the heavy responsibilities for the nations. The expectations and stringent evaluations the society now holds for us are great.
